Walking the Capital Ring Stage 12
Upper Tollington Park - Hackney Wick

Date: October 7th 2007
Walkers: Myself and Catheryn
Weather: dark and overcast - but not too cold.
Walk Departure Time: 1.00pm
Walk Finishing Time: 5.30pm
Walk Distance: 5.8 miles (approx) (new route)

Part twelve of the ring was through familiar North London territory, but still threw up some surprises. The first being that the route had been changed from that of the book, to incorporate some of the New River walk. We saw a few rats on this section! There were a procession of parks - Finsbury Park, Clissold Park, Abney Park Cemetery, Springfield Park. The remainder was in the Lea Valley, where we saw big horny cows. We ended in the urban decay of Hackney Wick, soon to become rejuvenated for the 2012 Olympics.
